Sustainable agriculture

With the purchase of a bumbaumel organic cotton product you are supporting an organic cotton farmers' cooperative in India. You are helping give over 6000 people meaningful, sustainable employment.  Over 5000 farmers participate in the cooperative, delivering the cotton and negotiating the prices. 550 employees work in the mills, 40 people in the cotton gins and 30 in the project administration.

Fair trade

Organic cotton is sold for over 10% more then conventional cotton at the farmers' collective. On average, the income from a 5 acre organic cotton field in India will be around 115,000 Indian Rupees (approximately 1,680 Euros).  That is 15% more then what a conventional cotton farmer earns on the same piece of land.
