Indian NO GMO movement

I have been researching this whole thing with the GMO organic cotton "scandal" in India and came across this really excellent site:

 In particular I recommend downloading the study published there on Cotton Seed Contamination in India.

I have spent most of the day since getting back from thekey.to talking to people from Control Union, talking to the labs, including a scientist from the Impetus lab.  He told me that the quotes from the FTD were taken out of context, in particular the bit about it being 30% of Indian organic cotton testing positive for GMO. In fact, it had been 30% of samples delivered to their lab that they suspected of being contaminated. A totally different thing then 30% of all Indian grown organic cotton.

I am now in contact with the APEDA in India as well as our partners there. It is simply not true that CU was ever banned or suspended for testing in India. It is true that they had to pay some fines at some point because of irregularities in the payment of some duties somewhere in India. Not because of fake testing or anything to do with GMO.  The folks I know in India are very, very concerned and aware of the issues with GMO.
